want $500 for your parents group?

Making money has never been easier. Or more fun. Family Pride is giving away cold, hard cash to four motivated parents groups. Here's what you need to know:

Family Pride is participating in the Kevin Bacon challenge to earn a $10,000 matching gift for the organization. A $10,000 gift will be issued to the six organizations with the highest number of donations - not the amount. Imagine what Family Pride could do with $10,000 to support local parents groups... Currently, we're ranked second!

Since it is the number of donations that matter, we've been asking people to give just $10 (the minimum amount accepted).

That's where you come in. We're awarding $500 dollars to the parents group that gets the highest number of donations. The second place prize is $250, and two prizes of $100 will be issued to the third and fourth place participants.

Here's how it works. Donations must be made through our sixdegrees.org badge (on the right side of this screen). Simply click the orange "donate" button to get started. But, we'll need to know that this donation came from your parents group. So, when someone makes a donation on behalf of your group, they can specify your group's name under the "dedication or gift" field of the donation form. It's that simple.

The contest will run until March 31, 2007, so get started today! And make sure your parents group is listed with us. We'll need your complete parents group information for you to be eligible.

think outside the box

If you're in it to win it, it's a good idea to develop a strategy. Here are some ideas that have worked for us:
  • Start with group members. Have everyone contribute the $10 minimium (or more if they can).
  • Ask friends. We had each member of our staff ask ten friends for donations through a personal email. It works!
  • Friends asking friends. Take it a step further and encourage your friends to ask friends. It's harnessing the power of grassroots momentum!
  • Get creative. Add our badge to your blog. Add it to your MySpace profile. It's easy to do - just click here for the HTML code.
