Dear Friend of Family Pride,
A few weeks ago we first invited you to join with other LGBT-headed families to take part in a great American tradition the White House Easter Egg Roll. For too long, our families have been invisible to too many Americans. So many of you have spent years working to change that every day breaking down barriers at schools, on playgrounds, in doctor’s offices and in our places of worship. We believe that our participation in the White House Egg Roll is simply another way to break down barriers, and allow our children to participate in the full range of opportunities available to families.
To date, more than 100 families have committed to participating in this event. But we need your help now more than ever.
Religious and political extremists who oppose our equality have targeted our planned participation in this event, saying we have no right to “crash” the White House Egg Roll. That’s not our goal we simply want our children and our families to be able to fully participate in an event generations of children have enjoyed. The invitation to this event is open to all families, and we extended that invitation to LGBT-headed families so they could participate as well. In their continued efforts to keep our families hidden from the American public, our opponents want to intimidate us into not participating. In just two days since the ultra-conservative Institute on Religion and Democracy issued a press release about this event and a story appeared in the conservative Weekly Standard, Family Pride has received a flood of hate-filled, venomous messages telling us that our families aren’t welcome.
We hope you will join us and show that our families simply want the same rights and responsibilities and opportunities to participate as full citizens as any other family. And in this instance, that means providing our children with the chance to roll eggs down a hill with a spoon on the White House lawn.
If you want to help America see the love of your family, if you want to help America become a more equitable place, if you want your children to have all the same legal protections that children of heterosexual couples do, sign up today to participate in this important event. Please join us on April 17 and make a difference in the lives of LGBT families and our country.

With sincere thanks for all you do,
