family stories ::
Join us in sharing our stories and the realities of LGBTQ-headed family life. Family Pride’s strategy starts with cohesive message planning.
It is essential that you remain clear, consistent and concise when telling your family’s story. Why? We truly believe that people who are not on the side of family equality simply do not know an LGBTQ-headed family personally and/or don’t know what we’re going through. To that end, one of our jobs is to clarify who we are, how we relate to one another, how we’re currently being treated and what we need. It is only after people hear OUR stories time and time again that they will be able to tell our stories, and thus, our stories will become a part of THEIR truth. Lastly, we must be concise. Most of us could talk ad naueseam about our families, especially about our children. When telling your family story, we encourage you to be discerning. Pick out the best stories, the most telling and poignant examples from your family experience to help describe your underlying need for achieving a world in which all loving families are recognized, protected and celebrated!
