you MUST watch this video…

David on Sep 20th 2007

If there’s one thing you do today, you should watch this video. It’s currently making the rounds online.

In this touching, un-edited clip, the Republican mayor of San Diego announces that he supports marriage equality. He says that he can’t look his lesbian daughter or gay staffers in the face and tell them that their love is unequal.

Watch the clip and let us know what you think.

I just watched this video and was left in tears! Good thing I had some tissues ready. It’s definitely evident that the Mayor of San Diego had a MAJOR change of heart and is now in favor of marriage equality! You can tell in the video that his words and actions are heartfelt and it’s almost like a ton of weight has been lifted off of his shoulders by finally “coming out” with how he truly felt about this whole matter.

Since he’s a Republican, I’m sure the “leaders” of the party were keeping him in line all of these years and he’s finally had enough!

Good for him! Good for his family! Good for the LGBT community! Good for the whole world!

I was also significantly moved because I was born in San Diego and still have lots of friends and family living there. And I’m also considering moving back because of California’s more LGBT friendly environment. Currently living in Phoenix, AZ

The text of the Mayor’s statement can be viewed here:

Wow…let me wipe the tears from my eyes before I type this response. What sincerity and compassion! Bravo. This is a perfect step in the right direction…no pun intended. Now we need more leaders, whom I believe are out there, to step forward and show their changes of heart!!

Wow! That was incredibly touching, and, like the two above me, brought tears to my eyes.
Thank goodness someone out there in the higher powers supports us.
    Thanks for sharing this clip.
I hadn’t seen it yet, but now i’m very glad i have.
