The following statement can be attributed to Jennifer Chrisler, Executive Director of Family Pride:
We join the community of American families headed by lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender parents in congratulating Mary Cheney and Heather Poe on the birth of their son, Samuel David Cheney. Vice President Cheney’s newborn grandson and his two mothers put yet another face on our families for the American public. We wish the family the best and will continue our efforts to advocate for full equality for all American families.

Grrrr grrrrrr rrrrgggh! RRRGGGGH!!
Please keep this child out of the red states for fear or parental prosecution.
why isn’t the picture of mary and heather? or, if mary’s still recovering, of heather holding her son? i’ve never seen any other first-birth picture of public figures with people who aren’t the child’s parents.
Personally? I hope the kid dies of Sids… seems only fair seeing how money kids have died in Iraq for this fake assed war in Iraq.
What hyprocracy ! It’s fine for the blue bloods to make up the rules and break them as they see fit. If Cheney was honest he would cast his gay daughter from his house along wqith hius lesbian wife.
But then again there are all those unaccounted for ‘visits ‘ to the White House by a guy who runs a gay escort service and was given a press pass without scrutiny.
I wish Mary her partner and her new son the very best, but having anything to do with the poison her insane hypocritical father spews
all over the world is a cop out. If Dickless lives long enough can you see him reading ” I have two mommys.” to his grandson ?
I hope Cheney lives long enough to have his grandson tell him what a disappointment and heartbreak his grandfather has been, not only in thiose surroundings but to the whole world.

I second issa’s astonishment that neither one of the parents appears in what looks to be an “offical” portrait of the newest family member.
Grandpa may be a complete asshole, but I wish this little boy lots of peace, health, and happiness. May God grant him the decency that his grandfather so badly lacks.
Have a great life kiddo!
I don’t think I’ve ever seen that Dick with a real smile. Almost makes him look human and not the spawn of Satan. Good luck Samuel, your parents love each other and that’s a good start.
All the best to him and his mommies. Too bad he’ll suffer a lifetime of bigotry from folks like his grandparents. You’ve got to wonder, did she have in-vitro? If so, what happened to all the other fertilized eggs? Perhaps disposed of? I guess if you’re the VP’s daughter, you don’t have to explain your actions to his right-to-life friends.

Maybe someday Mary and Heather will have the courage to actually pose with their son rather than hiding behind Lynne and Dick, the convenient media standins. Luckily, regular gay folks like us don’t fall for your hypocritical family values.
After all it is us, the devoted gay and lesbian parents, who have the courage to be out and open about our children and families.
Good luck Samuel, may you learn that courage, love and character are important qualities.
Do conservatives have lisbos too? I am impressed with our conservative leadership. We love lesbos, We love lesbos. Go LesboCheney. I am sure you are one proud Dick (Cheney).

I think its amazing and awesome the way that children can bring love to a family. I am saddened by the negativity in response to the blessings this child is bringing.
Do I like Cheney and the Bush administration? Nope, nothing about them. I have to give some credit though, that Cheney would embrace and welcome this child instead of walking away.
It shows the true capacity of a human being.
Congratulations to the New Moms and the whole family!
Who’s the father?
Inquiring minds want to know.
